dashai party 2005 in columbusNamasteI would like to take the opportunity to thank all the individuals who made the effort to attend the Dashain party Organized by NAOO in Columbus Ohio. This Festival is always special but this year our dashai celebration was extra special because we had people coming from various different cities within and outside Ohio. We had families travel from Cincinnati, West Virginia, Youngstown, Findlay and Chillicothe for the event. We are very grateful to those who opted to travel all the way to Columbus and help us celebrate Dashai. There were about 65 attendees in all. Although we did not play card and gamble, we had good time playing various games, dancing and singing. Prizes were distributed to the person who traveled farthest to attend the function and person who came from Atlanta was the winner. In the contest of husband and wife compatibility quiz a couple from Columbus (Moini and Pramod) won the prize. Pragya Kharel and Rajeev Nepal were the winners in the contest for how well you know Nepal quiz. I would also like to thank all the volunteers who help with the organization. Dr Surendra Adhikari and Shanta made Tama Alu. Gyanu Sherchan made Mula ko Achar and Alu ko Achar. Dr Puspa Joshi made some Choyala. Thank you for making those delicious foods. Although most of our artists were out of town, Mayur Gauchan and Pramod Lama took charge of entertaining our guests. Once again thanks for your cooperation and hope the NAOO organization will continue to have your support for future activities. The highlight of the evening was the grand cultural program. Mr. Govind Paudel, vice-president of NAOO, started the program by lighting incense sticks marking the Dashai festival. More than twenty guests performed solo/group songs and dances during the program. We extend our sincere thanks to Rajeet Shrestha and Suddat Lama for arranging music for the evening.
