naoo picnic 2005

Dear NAOO Members and Friends:

Thanks to everyone who attended the NAOO Picnic 2005 and made it a very successful program. We had over one hundred guests from different cities in Ohio at the Edgewater Park in Cleveland.

The weather and the water temperature at the lake were perfect for our event. The picnic started around noon with light snacks. Volunteers worked very hard and long hours to grill the chicken and cook Khasi for the guests. Aaloo Ko Achar, Chuyra and Aaloo Kauli ko Tarkari were served with the meat. After the early afternoon snacks, several games were organized for guests of all ages. Those games included tug-of-war, musical chairs, three-legged-race and our own version of balloon dance. Some guests took advantage of the great weather and mild wind to fly the kites with Nepali-style Lattai and some went swimming at the lake.

The last event of the day was the raffle draw. The Aryal family from Akron, the Bhatta family from Kent and the Timila family from Cleveland won the third, second, and first prizes respectively. The day ended with a beautiful sunset and Cleveland City’s fireworks.

Our special thanks goes to the organizers who worked very hard to make this event possible and fun for all age groups.

For those who missed this great opportunity to enjoy the great weather and great company of Nepalis and friends, we have good news. We will be organizing such events frequently and in different cities so that more people can participate.
